Summary
Data Science Video, OpenBionics Crowdfunding call & some great comic strips
Video from our Data event
As some of you may remember, we ran an event with UWE earlier this year at the Watershed based on demystifying the data side of the tech industry as well as a careers fair for local companies. There was video captured, which was sponsored by UWE in order to promote their Masters Data Science programme, so if you are interested in Data Science this may be an option for you.

OpenBionics CrowdCub Campaign fundraiser
Open Bionics is a great local tech-for-good business which was cofounded by one of our early girlgeekdinners members Sammy Payne. They’ve launched an Equity Crowdcube Campaign to raise investment to launch the Hero Arm in 10 new countries and to finish product development for some new bionic devices.
Please back a Bristol-based robotics company that employs 40 people in Bristol where we run all manufacturing and R&D. Sign up here and invest from as little as £12 SIGNUP.
The Crowdcube platform promotes campaigns based on high sign-up numbers, so the important thing for the team is that as many people as possible sign-up.
Snazzy campaign video if you’re curious

Some great Comic strips for you
We spotted these on boredpanda and love how they simplify the messages

Our Events

Our final Workshop Wednesday of the year before breaking for the festivities (on the 14th) will include pizza (not particularly festive but easier than a roast!) and an early finish to go to the bar opposite (the portwall tavern). We’ve been a bit slow with Girlgeekdinners so we are inviting those members along too – feel free to just pop in and say hi: sign up via WTH here with girl geeks here and if you’re with codehub just pop over with us after the workshops – we will be finishing by 8.30.
*Note: We will take a break over Xmas and be back in the New year after our Social on the 14th
We collaborate with various groups to run workshops and hack nights, upcoming events are below.
- Bi-Weekly we run Workshop Wednesdays in collaboration with CodeHub
- You can sign up to pop along with either Women’s Tech Hub ~ Bristol • Bristol or CodeHub Bristol • Bristol
- We also host a Drop-In Session by Bristol Data Science and Machine Learning Study Group • Bristol – which is where you can pop along, meet other like-minded data people and ask Chew about all things data.
For details check out our WW page here.

On alternate Tuesday evenings there is Code Hubs’ Hack Night by CodeHub Bristol • Bristol and Women’s Tech Hub ~ Bristol • Bristol currently this is online only, although there is talk of going back live so if you are a venue wanting to host please get in touch.
Girl Geek Dinners (Bristol and Bath)
Check out the coming events on our dedicated page – pop along and support the organisers as it takes work to run these things and it’s great to find a supportive network.
Conferences
Conf42: Web 3.0 2022 15th December

With blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies increasing in adoption and maturity, what key insights should companies take from these trends? And how can e-commerce and other organisations take part of this web3 centric world, incorporating virtual assets in their payment flow without any of the associated risks? … and other talks..

As a suggestion from one of our lovely members (Thanks Gabs #1!), we have also set up a “buymeacoffee” page for those wanting to give us a small thank-you. Check it out here.
Women’s Tech Hub products
The candidates page advertises the skillsets of the women we have looking for roles in the area (and some of our male allies).
Jobs Board for those wanting to advertise specifically to our members in the area – check it out here.
