Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council

At the hot robotics event we got talking to someone from the EPSRC who are keen to share with us the sponsored PHD’s on offer. If anyone is interested we will be happy to set up an event to have them come in and chat about them – or alternatively put you in touch.

The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is one of the nine parts of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). UKRI brings together the seven disciplinary research councils, Research England, which is responsible for supporting research and knowledge exchange at higher education institutions in England, and the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK.

UKRI provide grants to conduct research and innovation projects, as well as funds to provide training. The seven disciplinary councils have individual subject remits and provide grants directly to Universities. Innovate UK funds businesses directly through grants or loans. More information is available here About us – UKRI

This is fully funded PhDs, including stipends. How exactly these are managed differs between each council but high level details are here How we fund studentships – UKRI and here Get a studentship to fund your doctorate – UKRI. As it happens – Bristol UNI has a call out for a PHD in statistical and computational techniques of data science so if you want to find out the hows and who’s take a look at:
