Data Science Event Updates
A conference light event presenting what Data Science is in conjunction with UWE data science MSc and other careers support. Any companies wishing to be involved then feel free to reach out as we shall be running a recruitment event as part of the day. It is a Hybrid event so anyone not able to make it in person has the opportunity to attend from home. Currently we are sorting the space so will come back with further details in the next couple of weeks.
Hone your data science skills with the WiDS Datathon, joining teams in a social impact challenge focused on the environment and climate change. The competition is open January 6 – February 26, 2022.
For Hardware lovers out there :
From microscopes to microfluidics and water quality test equipment, hardware is a vital part of science. Advances in instrumentation have been central to scientific revolutions and access to hardware shapes the work of communities conducting research globally on a daily basis. However, the current supply chain for science hardware limits access for many groups of people and impedes creativity and customisation. Open Science Hardware (OScH) means sharing designs for scientific hardware openly online that anyone is freely able to use, modify and even commercialize. This approach could drastically reduce the costs of research while enabling people to collaborate and learn in new ways.
If you are interested in any of our candidates please contact us at email@example.com to discuss. If any of you are looking for jobs then feel free to send us your requirements and we can put you on our candidate’s list.
Job(s) of the Week
There are some top jobs from our clients wanting to make a difference and ensure that they reach out to recruit a more diverse workforce. Please take a look and contact them if you are interested as often companies are open to discussing other openings with potential candidates also. For now check out all of the jobs on our jobs board and get in touch if you want to reach out to our members at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’re starting with the Extraordinary General meeting on January the 12th where we’d like members to pop along and let us know what you want from us this coming year sign-up here.
The Conferences are back – hopefully much more on an in-person or Hybrid format this year.
Nothing spotted this week!
As a suggestion from one of our lovely members (Thanks Gabs #1!), we have also set up a “buymeacoffee” page for those wanting to give us a small thank-you. Check it out here.
