The F Factor: Bristol Regional Final

Join us to see the best young entrepreneurs in your region. Our Co-founder Thanh will be on the Judging Panel too! Date: May 3rd, 2019 from 6pm – 9.30pm

The F Factor is the UK’s premier Start-Up for ambitious young entrepreneurs using technology to solve the world’s biggest problems. Taking inspiration from the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals, the competition is designed for 14-18 and 19-25 year olds across the nation and aims to encourage young bright minds to explore entrepreneurship. The competition is underpinned with active entrepreneurship education for students and graduates to harness cutting-edge innovation and shape them into solutions for the world’s most pressing problems.

The Regional Final is the 3rd round of the competition that started in November with 400+ participants in the 1st round and 100 in the 2nd round. During the Regional Finals, eight founders with brilliant businesses will compete in each of the five regions of the competition to find the very best ideas from across the UK. Are you interested in how data can help us be more empowering and caring?

Join us for an afternoon event and help us explore how better use of data can improve the quality of lives of the residents and guests in our city.
We will consider how data and information could be used to help with local priorities and how we can best support the development of an empowered and caring City.
The session will include presentations ‘Our Data Project’ commission winners and local thematic experts. There will also be a world cafe style workshop to explore how data and information can be used in relation to the One City Plan themes.
Local strategic priorities and projects such as ‘Ending Period Poverty’ will be addressed.
We will uncover the challenges, identify available data, collate a wish list of data, map projects and document ideas.
The event has been designed to provide voice for:
Citizens ~ Developers ~ Community ~ Academia ~ Public sector ~ Businesses.

News & events coming up

A couple of interesting things coming up soon – the second is in London but they are looking at sponsoring travel so mail us if you are interested on info@wthub.org.

Just in case you haven’t seen we are hosting our inaugural Cyber conference in Bristol on May 15th, at the Watershed! We have 4 interactive workshops, a Red Team vs Blue Team panel debate, and 15+ inspiring speakers that are thought leaders in their space. The conference is designed to be fun, informative and engaging, whatever your background & experience – and we will be practicing social engineering and gamification techniques at the event!

BristolCyberCon on 15th May

I am organizing a one-day free workshop for women where the participants will learn how to code, more concretely how to build a website with Python and a bit of CSS, HTML. The workshop will take place at Bloomberg in London. The registration to participate in the workshop is open and it will be open until the 19th May. All the details about the workshop are in the website girls.pylondinium.org. No previous experience with programming is required, so it could be pretty good for some of the women you said you work on. It would be really nice if you shared the news about the workshop in the Bristol Geek Girls meetup, maybe some other Geek Girls meetup and anybody you might think might be interested on it.
