An Evening in the Bristol Robotics Lab

And – as promised they are back and running their first event hosting Bristol Girlgeekdinners at the great BRL (Bristol Robotics Lab). Sign up through their meetup (you can use the QR code above) or on the Girl Geek Dinners page. You will need to sign up quickly as we’ve just realised that we haven’t checked their numbers limit and normally an event with the bots is packed – getting a tour of the place is also something we’ve not really had before and theirs some exciting stuff in there. We got you at robots right? Well we found out recently about this great facility which, whilst it was initially all about robotics in nuclear, is also open for SME’s, charity’s and other companies to hire out their equipment which includes drones, drone pilots, a runway, robot dog, leo robot – in fact you can check it all out here. They also have a schools engagement tent if anyone out there has some year 13 and up …

If you are interested you can attend the Hot Robotics Symposium in June – there’s an open day on the 16th at University of Bristol, Fenswood (North Somerset) and we are seriously tempted – we hear that there is free food and drink and possibly a bus from central bristol… signup here.

Women in Data have been supporting efforts in the Ukraine. Through the incredible work of some of our most active members and under the leadership and vision of Rob Howes, D.A.T.A. has launched and needs our support.

We are mobilising the data & analytics and technology communities to come together and raise money to help Ukrainian citizens. Together we can achieve more.

By uniting behind this single cause we will buy 10,000 medical kits, worth $1 million in 6 weeks.

A GINormous THANK YOU

Super Thank You

For the Support

…and love at our conference and careers fair last week. We truly couldn’t have done it without the Brilliant Team, volunteers and companies that supported us. So big thanks to Helen Farmer for managing the event with us, Susie King for her continuous support and attention to (every) detail. Our brilliant speakers who gave up their time: Anna-maria Wykes, Helen Lloyd, Kathryn Armitstead, Ben Byford, Elena Hersinger, Joanne Kitson and the wonderful UWE staff.

The companies also for coming along and engaging with the women so wonderfully – the attendees all came out of the room beaming with appreciation from how you engaged with them so you certainly won some support and a big thanks for supporting us!

The feedback from the day has been wonderful, so depite the stress of running our first large event since COVID began we are really pleased and hope that it drives some people to consider a career in the industry and to consider roles with the companies that attended.
