Bristol Women’s Voice Members’ Summer Event
19 Jun 2024, 5:30pm - 7:30pm
Welcome to our Summer Event exclusively for Bristol Women’s Voice members!
Join us for picnic in Queen Square for evening of feminist connection and celebration across communities and ages. This is one of two members’ events we hold each year, and this year we are offering the opportunity to bring a friend who might wish to join as a member!
Connecting
We invite you all to bring a picture, drawing, photo or representative item of a feminist icon, ancestor or mentor to tell other women about. We are going to add these to a washing line in the park and so if you prefer not to leave yours there, you can take a photo and send it to us for printing in advance.
Campaigning
We also invite you to think about a small act of resistance that you perform to reject the patriarchy. Think small, maybe even secret, something that means for you, in your way, you say no to the pressure to fit the gendered norms we are coerced to fit and the activities we are expected as women to complete.
Celebrating
BYO nibbles and picnic. We will provide refreshments, chairs and picnic blankets; there is a Community Toilet Scheme toilet nearby at Hole in the Wall. Children’s arts and crafts are available – you can book your child/ren in when you get your ticket [deadline for confirming if children are coming is Thursday 13 June 5pm].
We have asked for a donation for attendance but if you want a free ticket instead, just email us.
