Hello from Women’s Tech Hub! We’ve got off to a flying start this year, with several months of F3F meetups under our belt, lots of positive feedback at our Bristech2016 launch, and recently confirming our first re:boot.
F3F ~ Free3Fridays ~ are WThub co-working sessions at Desklodge Bristol. (Thanks Thanh, Jamie & Sam for being so welcoming!) Since we started we have watched members support each other with tips and ideas for courses, job openings, cv writing and setting up shared projects. We have helped women develop their networks and confidence to apply for and get jobs that they want, and organised our first re:boot ~ for a developer returning to work after a four year break.
At the last F3F, WTHub member Sari Vanska ran a workshop on recognising skills that we often overlook but that make an important addition to cvs. It was a really useful couple of hours, with great input from participants. Sari is available to run similar workshops, drawing on her wealth of experience working within companies such as HP. Building on this we will spend F3F on Fri 27th Jan focusing on how to create great linked-in profiles and are already planning sessions on interview skills.
The last F3F of 2016 is this week on 9th December, so come along if you can. If not, why not make your New Year’s resolution to come along and join us in the New Year ~ we will be back at Desklodge on 6th January 2017.
Another date for your diaries is Thursday 19th January ~ email us email@example.com to sign up for our fun WTHub Midwinter Social. This is our chance to say a big thank~you to our members and supporters, especially Desklodge who give us space to meet every Friday. Come along and meet people who want to make the tech industry more diverse, from tech CEOs to re:boot hosts, local tech meetup organisers and women taking steps back into tech. It’s at Desklodge and will be a relaxed affair and a chance to find our more about Women’s Tech Hub, what we get up to at F3F and beyond, and see what we can do for you too.
In other news keep an eye out for the WTHub table at VoxxedDays Bristol on 2nd March – they are keen to get more women speakers so get in touch with them if you are interested or working in/with cloud computing. We’re also in cahoots with Desklodge to create Future of work/home events in Spring 2017.
