… and we’re taking a break
Or so we would love to! In reality, we are busy planning and changing things.
As ever we have a lot of things that we know will help to achieve our aim of improving the inclusion in Tech and with that in mind this month we will mainly be planning. That sadly (or happily) means that we will not be running any events in August, It’s a chance for us to catch up but also most of our members appear to disappear during the holidays .. can’t think why !? We will still be available for those wanting to get support or talk to us (mail on firstname.lastname@example.org), but we figure your holidays in the Bahamas or camping in the back garden with the kids or friends is probably a bit more fun.
We have some great news coming up, as we are also changing the website to give you far more support and information. This will allow for anyone not able to get to our events find out what you can do, either as individual members or companies, to get great jobs or great people into your companies!
In fact, we have soo much to do we feel a month is not enough .. but let’s face it, we will miss our members if we take too long-off. On that note please sign up for our summer fair on meetup its on the 10th August and it has a miniature steam train to play with so what’s not to love?
Bristol Tech Fair

It’s world Emoji Day on the 17th
Continue reading “Want to exhibit at Technotopia?”
Emoji’s have been used since the beginning of the internet to transmit emotion in the written medium. As internet technology advanced, so did the use of the emoji, with previously pure text bits of ascii art turning into full-fledged animated faces and symbols. We’ve all used them, and we’re excited for the future of them! World Emoji day celebrates the history of these emotional expressions, and encourages you to be exceptionally emotive! After all, it’s always nice to let someone know how you’re feeling when you write, isn’t it? Emoji’s are just one more way!
We’ve been planning this for a while and are finally able to announce that as part of Bristol Technology Week we will be running the Bristol Tech Fair in collaboration with Technotopia and the WISE campaign. As a follow on from our previous Tech³Shed engaged careers fair in March we have gotten together with Technotopia and the WISE campaign to run what promises to be a brilliant and fun day, mixing discussion, with careers and children!! So put it in your diaries that we’ll be at the Colston Hall on the 9th of November!
Happy History of Math 2.0 Day
“A celebration of the blending of technology and mathematics. For a lot of us, math wasn’t a favorite subject, we’d spend the entire period staring at the equations and wondering what sort of livid madman designed these torture chambers on paper. Ultimately, however, we realised that math is utterly indispensable in our modern world.”
