84 new Future Leaders Fellows and £100m for next round announced
For those of you who aren’t aware of the Future Leaders Fellowship we thought it worth a call out, we are involved with the review process and also work with one of the future leaders so understand what a great initiative it is. We also spotted that one of the awards went to a local company, FutureLeap employee so big congratulations to William Frier.

UKRI’s flagship Future Leaders Fellowships allow universities and businesses to develop their most talented early career researchers and innovators and to attract new people to their organisations, including from overseas.
Additionally, £100 million of new funding is being announced today for another round of the successful fellowships: round 7.Innovators for the future
The cutting-edge projects supported by the fellowships also include:
- research into the exploitation of women in global garment supply chains
- mid-air haptics that allow you to feel holographs
- injectable gels to deliver tissue regeneration therapies
- studying how colourism affects secondary school students
- improved models of the global ocean carbon cycle
