About the event

These talks are all about bonding and building connection amongst the innovators in Bristol, we’ll hear personal stories of life in innovation:

  • What is motivating Bristol’s innovators, why they are doing this, why they are here, their sense of purpose, their journey
  • Stories of breakthroughs, wisdom and learning – moving through stages and crisis

Meet fellow innovators, hear stories, and build your network, in an informal and enjoyable evening of storytelling. The talks will be delivered in ‘Pecha Kucha’ format – 20 slides, 20 images, 20 seconds each image, followed by time for questions and discussion. Join us at University of Bristol new student start-up space ‘Runway’ at the Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Since we love all things space and it’s a great excuse for a stunning Feature picture we thought we’d mention it’s World Space week!

The World Space Week 2022 theme is “Space and Sustainability” focusing on achieving sustainability in space and achieving sustainability from space. The theme is inspired by how sustainability in space relates to how humanity uses space, most pressingly, the orbital area surrounding Earth.

Space exploration and remote Earth observation can help drive change for our home planet. This includes measuring climate change, identifying pollution on land and at sea, supporting agriculture in developing nations.

Of the 169 targets that form the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, 65 directly benefit through Earth observation satellites and related technologies. Achieving the SDGs would be so much harder without the tools and techniques available to scientists through space exploration.

Women In Tech Interview: Chloe Meineck

We often hear the barriers which deter women and girls from engaging in science, technology, engineering and maths are unconscious bias and a lack of diversity at board level. To celebrate the launch of Women Tech Founders, we are interviewing the female leaders involved with SETsquared Bristol to explore their career paths and views on issues faced by women in technology. Each of their stories is individual, some have a technical background, others are using technology to enable their business idea.
