This week BIG are launching the first in a new series we are calling: ‘Bristol Troublemakers‘ at the Runway space at UoB. Join them for a relaxed evening of story-telling and networking while they give Bristol’s innovators the opportunity to share their personal stories.

If you haven’t heard of BIG – they are called the Bristol Innovators Group and are a great contact group to share learning about innovation practices, from sectors, communities and cities. We want to benefit people and organisations in Bristol, UK. About the event

These talks are all about bonding and building connection amongst the innovators in Bristol, we’ll hear personal stories of life in innovation:

  • What is motivating Bristol’s innovators, why they are doing this, why they are here, their sense of purpose, their journey
  • Stories of breakthroughs, wisdom and learning – moving through stages and crisis

Meet fellow innovators, hear stories, and build your network, in an informal and enjoyable evening of storytelling. The talks will be delivered in ‘Pecha Kucha’ format – 20 slides, 20 images, 20 seconds each image, followed by time for questions and discussion. Join us at University of Bristol new student start-up space ‘Runway’ at the Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

‘Introduction to Robotics’Free two-day workshop for SMEs in the West of England


  • Dates: Thursday, 1st and Friday, 2nd December 2022
  • Time: 10:00 – 16:00 (both days)
  • Location: Bristol Robotics Laboratory, UWE Bristol, Frenchay Campus

Engineers from the Bristol Robotics Laboratory will deliver this free, two-day workshop, which provides a practical introduction to the topic of industrial robotics. Whatever your level of experience or ability, you will have the chance to get ‘hands on’ with our robot arms, gaining an insight into different hardware options and operating systems, while being able to question experienced technicians.

Bristol Data, London Tech & Hot Robotics this week

There’s a lot going on this week, from Bristol Data Week with the Jean Golding Institute, London Tech week which seems to involve half of the government and tv presenters and lots of robotics coming to town. Exploring how we can make data work for everyone. Join us for Bristol Data Week 2022 (13–17 June); an interactive programme of speakers, training, and workshops, open to all and completely free of charge.

This year we will be holding a mix of events in-person and online, from training on how to use Python and R, ethics workshops, a Tableau masterclass, data in healthcare seminars, interactive gaming demos, a celebration of data in digital arts and humanities, and a special film screening to announce the winners of the JGI Data Science and AI Film Prize
