18:30 – 19:15 Talk: Pragmatic AI Governance for SMEs – Dr Elena Hensinger Schien

Elena is a Data and AI Team Lead, building practical solutions, while establishing governance for safe adoption of AI and data tools. Her work crosses academia, FemTech and EdTech, STEM outreach and community climate action.

Generative and agentic AI tools move fast, but without clear guardrails, companies risk runaway API costs, shadow AI exposure, and compliance pitfalls. How can smaller organisations balance safety with speed?

We’ll explore some real-world operational challenges data practitioners and business leaders face when deploying AI across teams, and some approaches to solve them.
