Join WECA at Tech UpSkill 2024 in November

Join us at Tech UpSkill 2024, held at Watershed on Friday 8 November. This is the premier event connecting ambitious women who want to either get into, or return to Tech, with the latest skills, training and companies that need them.

This is an opportunity to find out about a wealth of support and funding available to you from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority. Not only could you access training, advice and grants, but you can also have YOUR say on the provision you would like to see on offer in the future. Whether you have feedback on gaps in support in the region, or have ideas you’d like to share, our teams would love to hear from you.

For individuals

From 2.15pm to 2.45pm, there will be the opportunity to hear about:

  • Current free-to learner Skills Bootcamp opportunities available and how they can give you the opportunity to boost your Tech skills and qualifications, progressing with your current employer or guaranteeing an interview with another organisation
  • Experiences of other learners from the training providers
  • How you can access advice, information, and guidance from Skills Connect, which makes it easy for you to find training opportunities, relevant networking events and the latest information on key jobs in sectors including Tech. You can also access free support from a team of friendly advisers to help you find your next steps
  • Free career coaching from Future Bright, supporting you to access training, boost your confidence and ‘find your happy’ in work

For employers

From 3pm to 3.30pm, there will be the opportunity to hear about:

  • The current Skills Bootcamps available in Tech and Digital sectors
  • How you can access Skills Bootcamp funding to deliver your own flexible courses that meet the needs of your business, upskilling and future proofing your workforce
  • How you can explore opportunities to develop future delivery for your organisation
  • How we can help you connect with training providers to access the talent pool they are creating
  • Skills Connect, a one-stop-shop for information, advice and guidance on training and upskilling. Alongside hundreds of training opportunities, you can explore a range of upcoming networking events. You can also find the latest information on the Tech sector in the West of England and explore opportunities for you or your employees.
  • The West of England Good Employment Charter team and how becoming a Supporter of the Good Employment Charter can help you access top talent, improve retention, and increase productivity.  Following each of the presentations you will have the opportunity to ask questions, or you can head over to our stand where our teams will be happy to help discuss these opportunities with you further, through until 4pm
