Yes – we can be bought by Pizza!

GirlGeekDinners

Okay – we know we’ve been a bit quiet recently – it was a pretty full on time over Christmas, but we’re back up and looking to run some events again this year. We know that the industry is pretty tight at the moment as there have been a lot of lay offs which we suspect is a slight readjustment after the hiring surge during Covid. So while we know that people aren’t recruiting, it’s still a great thing to host an event to engage and support women in the industry – at least that what we think.

Its pretty cheap and they are a lovely bunch of people so if you are considering hosting a meetup and want some publicity we would be really grateful to anyone offering up an evening with pizzas and some drinks and a female speaker (if you don’t have any women available to speak we can normally find one). Past talks have been on Cyber Security, AI interaction with Humans, Salesforce, changing careers, ethical AI, imposter syndrome, games coding, VR, robots .. in fact you name it and we’ve probably had a talk on it if it was tech or science related!

The Safe Space Scheme

Thanks Nicole for the shout out. This is a great initiative up in Stroud (and the environs) called the Safe Space scheme. They are looking for people to build an app – which we suspect would be suitable for women in multiple cities, so any app makers out there, this is a great way to practise using your skills for a great cause.

The Safe Space Scheme is a community of businesses that provide a safe and secure place for women to go to if they are being followed or feel under threat in any way. Wherever you see the Safe Space logo, you know that the business welcomes you in immediately, no questions asked until the threat has passed.

It also runs the Night Angels who patrol the streets of Stroud Centre to help keep women safe. A team of women for women 💖😇

3 weeks ago The Night Angels went out on their first patrol around Stroud centre. Lots of amazing women have applied to join the team and Safe Space is growing, next county, Salisbury! What an incredible 3 weeks it has been!

We are still looking for Angels – please message the page if you are interested in joining us.

We are also looking for someone that can help us build an app, or a sponsor
