Guest blog – Funding opportunity for industrial and international residencies

The pro² network+ is a UKRI (United Kingdom Research and Innovation) funded network made up of academics, industry experts and individual innovators. It aims to democratise digital device production, making it easier for people to make digital devices.

Last year, we introduced the pro² Residency Scheme, an open funding call for international and industrial residencies that align with our objectives.  Visitors funded by the scheme will undertake world-leading, curiosity-driven research whilst building lasting partnerships with their hosts. The work will contribute directly towards developing new tools, techniques, processes or platforms that make it easier to replicate prototypes of digital devices.

Awardees can apply for funding under one of three categories:

  1. U.K. Industry Residency (up to £5,000). Available to researchers to gain first-hand experience of a U.K. industrial context through onsite placement.
  1. U.K.-Overseas Residency (up to £10,000).  Staff from U.K. Universities can apply for funds to visit overseas institutions to strengthen their research and impact.
  2. International-U.K. Residencies (up to £10,000). International collaborators can spend up to three months hosted at a U.K. University.
